Our Story
If you ask Erin…
Apparently, we first met in July 2021 at Dig a Pony. I don’t remember that part. What I do remember is that a few weeks later, we were given a second chance at River Pig, meeting up for a casual beer with mutual friends.
Trent immediately stood out. His energy is contagious. He asks great questions, pulls everyone into the conversation, and makes the table feel warmer just by being there. He’s goofy, joyful, deeply social, and genuinely loves people. Being around him is a gift.
That night turned into one of those nights you never want to end. The bar closed too early, so we went back to my apartment and played games for hours (still one of our favorite things). Somewhere along the way, I found myself waxing Trent’s armpits. He loved it. And while that might sound a little unhinged, it turns out it was a pretty perfect preview of the never-boring life we were about to build together.
At first, I thought we’d just be friends. And honestly, that was the best part. We weren’t looking for a future spouse. We were coming out of COVID, finally able to be social again, full of energy and excitement for life. We were just looking for connection and fun, and Trent, a true social butterfly, made all of that easy. But as we kept spending time together, it became pretty clear that “just friends” wasn’t going to stick. Trent is FAR too much of a flirt for that.
Trent asked me to be his girlfriend on November 29, 2021, though I had fallen in love with him well before that. One of my favorite moments shortly after we started dating, and one of Trent’s too, was bringing our families together for Christmas and catching a glimpse of what life might look like someday. Another favorite was our road trip to San Diego, winding through national parks and ending with Trent seeing his favorite artist, Taylor Swift. A true highlight.
For a while, we lived an hour and a half apart. The hardest part wasn’t the distance itself, but the Sundays. Knowing we’d have to go five days without each other. Trent did all the driving, juggling coaching, work, and exhaustion, and still showing up every weekend with nothing but excitement. We filled the space in between with nightly FaceTimes, often falling asleep on the phone.
By September 2022, we were living together. Not because of a big conversation or a dramatic, movie-worthy decision, but simply because being apart was obviously a no.
Since then, it’s only gotten better. What once felt like it might be “just friends” turned into being each other’s best friend, and then some.
Over four years in, it already feels like we’ve been family forever. We’re so excited to make that official and celebrate our love and commitment this summer, surrounded by the people who have shaped us and loved us through every chapter. Having you all together truly means the world to us.
